Casa Ansar project consits of the rehabilitation of an abandoned building into three social housing units in the Aluche District of Madrid, Spain. The rehabilitation preserves the traditional color scheme of the district while opening up the facade towards the street with larger openings. In order to lower construction costs the existing facade and structure is maintained with minor changes. The facade is renovated by converting the existing windows into balconies that are in tune with the proportions and aesthetics of the neighborhood. The fences and
entry door are painted in “verde-carruaje” (carriage-green), a traditional color reference used in this area of Madrid. The interior was overhauled to accomodate three two-bedroom apartments to be rented by young tenants that flee the city center´s overpirced real state market.
